History

Open Mortgage was founded in 2004 by Lewis Poretz.  Lewis grew up in the Greater Washington region and has been a resident of Anne Arundel County since 1989.  He began his career in several sales positions, always setting sales records by providing really great customer service.  Whenever he had to get a mortgage he was shocked at the lack of true customer-service orientation shown by the people with whom he had to deal.  After more than a decade learning about mortgages at one of the region’s larger firms, he founded Open Mortgage with the deep belief that he could build a successful business by acting like a real neighbor; by taking every opportunity to show his customers that he did not take their business for granted; by earning their business and referrals by providing high quality advice and hassle-free service.  That has become the Open Attitude.
